Using as a base the 904 GTS, Porsche designed a spyder, equipped with a 8-cylinder engine, to participate in the European Hill Climb Championship of 1965. This spyder shaped rather ungainly was therefore nicknamed "Kangaroo". It weighed only 570 kg., 120 less than the coupe which it derived from. The model represents the "Kangaroo" which participated in the Norisring on 4 July 1965, winning the race.
