The Porsche 911, successor of the Porsche 356, was presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 1963. Initially called Porsche 901, it had to change its numbering due to the fact that Peugeot had already recorded all the 3-digit numbers that included the the number zero in the middle. By the time, the line of the 356 was known all around the world and so the new 911 had to rely on its predecessor, so that it could be immediately identifiable as a Porsche. The engine used was a 6 -cylinder boxer, air-cooled, 2 liter-displacement that developed 130 hp.
