The Aston Martin 3L DBR1 participated in the 1957, 1958 and 1959 editions of Le Mans 24 Hours, winning in 1959.
The Solido model shows 4 variants:
- 1st version: wheel rims type 1 (metal with neckline), tires type 1 (rubber with knurled tire tread), pilot type 1 (without arms or legs, since 1959 thighs added, red or green helmet, in the 1st series the helmet is dark grey or black), steering wheel type 1 (2-spoke, red or green, placed on a metal shaft), light grey baseplate, black race number from 1 to 9 on a large white circle, nose painted yellow or silver and headlights painted silver. The box is type 2 (lilac with black drawings by Jean Blanche and absence of the reference). Production: 1959.
Colours of the 1st version: yellow, light green.
- 2nd version: wheel rims type 1 (metal with neckline), tires type 2 (rubber with round section and wheel rims type 1), pilot type 2 (with arms and legs, red or green helmet), steering wheel type 1 (2-spoke, red or green, placed on a metal shaft), light grey baseplate, black race number from 1 to 9 on a large white circle, nose painted yellow or silver and headlights painted silver. The box is type 3 (various colours depending on the model, drawing by the French artist Jean Blanche and reference on the tabs) or type 4 (light yellow with blue drawings and reference on the tabs). Production: 1960.
Colours of the 2nd version: yellow, red (rare), light green.
- 3rd version (pictured): wheel rims type 1 (metal with neckline), tires type 2 (rubber with round section and wheel rims type 1), pilot type 3 (with arms and legs, red helmet), steering wheel type 2 (3-spoke, yellow, white or red, placed on a plastic shaft), light grey baseplate, black race number from 1 to 10 on a small white circle, nose painted yellow or silver and headlights painted silver. The box is type 5 (yellow with red drawings and reference on the tabs). Production: 1961-1963.
Colours of the 3rd version: yellow, light green, dark green.
- 4th version: spoked wheel rims, tires type 4 (black rubber with knurled tire tread and sidewalls), pilot of type 3 (with arms and legs, red helmet), steering wheel type 3 (black, 2-spoke with a short shaft fixed on the dashboard), light grey then black baseplate, black race number from 1 to 10 on a small white circle, nose painted yellow and headlights painted silver. The box is type 6 (red with black and white drawings and the word solido with the letter I without the curl). Production: 1964-1968.
Colours of the 4th version: light green, dark green.
