With the agreement with the Simca in 1963, Abarth tried to replicate the arrangement made with the Fiat that had let to very good image results with the victories of the Fiat 600 cars he had developed. In 1963 on the basis of the Simca 1000, Abarth presented 4 versions among which the most powerful was the 1150 SS/Corsa. Equipped with 4 disc brakes, it aesthetically differed from the basic version for the chrome grille on the nose concealing the radiator with the emblem Abarth and the red band with the words "SIMCA ABARTH 1150" above it and for the rims with small cooling windows and the specific wheel covers. Unfortunately Abarth was not allowed to sell these cars through the Simca commercial network and this jeopardized the attainment of the minimal production for approval in the Tourism category. Relying only on its sales network the Abarth took almost 2 years to produce a few tens of cars necessary to homologate the car in the GT category. Despite this, the car was able to get some class victories with private pilots. The Simca Abarth 1150 weighed 700 kg and with an engine of 1136 cm³ which developed 85 hp, could exceed 170 kph.
