Presented at the beginning of 1966 the OT 1600 Sport Spider should probably be used to test the new V8 engine of 2000 cm³ that Abarth had presented to the public in February 1966. It had a frame made of pressed steel derived from the Fiat 850, a 1591 cm³ engine that developed 174 hp and allowed a top speed of 250 kph and was equipped with a very profiled fiberglass body, designed by Mario Colucci. It participated in a few races and held a series of comparative tests with other Abarth models in Vallelunga, then was shelved.
